About Us
The online dictionary of A1 level Georgian verbs was created by Ilia State University master's student Natia Sadgobelashvili within the master's thesis 'The effectiveness of the explanatory dictionary of A1 level Georgian verbs in the development of learners' language competence'.
The dictionary includes verbs that, according to the 'Detailed Description of Georgian Language Proficiency Levels' (Odzeli, 2023), belong to the lexical units necessary for mastering the A1 level. This level represents the initial stage of language proficiency and corresponds to the stage of developing basic communicative skills for language learners.
In the dictionary, the headword is presented in the third person singular form of the present tense, accompanied by the corresponding verb paradigm, namely the past and present forms. Each dictionary entry is designed considering the linguistic competence specifics of A1 level learners and includes relevant visual (photo) and audio material aimed at facilitating the perception and acquisition of lexical units. To support the development of transferable skills, each lexical entry is accompanied by three different types of exercises aimed at applying theoretical knowledge in practice and integrating it into communicative discourse.
The project was implemented with the financial support of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia.
